The Cause

The Soilders perparing to fight in the Congo War
The DR Congo was involved in a very violent uprising also know as the first and second Congo Wars which is sometimes referred to the African World War. The Victims of the war were normal people. In the Congo “Civilians in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo remain victims of mass killings, severe torture and widespread rape at the hands of numerous armed groups operating in the provinces of North Kivu, South Kivu and Orientale. .”(Web.). This mass killing killed innocent people who were no aware of wahat was going to happen. These people are very diverse. There is no stability therefore “Most Congolese speak several languages; it is not uncommon for someone to fluently speak four or more languages. French, introduced by Belgian colonists, is still used by the government and in radio broadcasts as Congo's official language. Other major languages include Swahili, Lingala, Kikongo, and Tshiluba. Used by the colonial military in the 1800s as the language of trade and travel, Lingala remains the lingua franca of the region. It is the most popular language for communicating across ethnic lines, and the majority of popular music heard on the radio is sung in Lingala”(Web). There is no set language; right there is a problem there is no comman ground for the people. This chaos and lack of social stability led to many of the problems in the DR Congo.
