The Current Situation

The Present DR Congo

Currently in the DR Congo there is stability. The government has made many changes and now has a new president. Most of the country has now found peace and the central government has slowly reasserted control “(Democratic).  The country is now able to have control of there people and take measures.  The country is allowing the people to make decisions.  The country even started to live up to its name by having the first democratic elections in more than four decades, which saw the late Laurent Kabila's son, Joseph, elected as president.(Democratic)”  . The people are responsible for there own fate. In some cases the government has still been on going with some of the atrocities that happened during the genocide. In the DR Congo “Reports of mass rapes, killings and other atrocities committed by rebels and government troops continue.”(). If the country wants to prevent another genocide from happening these troops need to be dismissed and rebels need to be jailed.
